GERMAN FUN CLUB FOR CHILDREN We offer German for the 3 to 5 and 6 to 12 age groups THE ADVANTAGE OF LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN THE EARLY YEARS The advantage of learning a language in the early years is that children learn easily and have a better long-term memory. As a consequence, the tuition is more effective and potentially of great benefit in later life. Children are taught subconsciously in their target language by the use of carefully created language games and songs, so that learning becomes fun and enjoyable. Children get to know each other, become friends, develop their own personality and learn to socialise with other children of a similar age. Interaction skills learned during the Fun Club can be employed throughout life, giving young students an enormous advantage in their development. FOR WHOM IS THE FUN CLUB SUITABLE? The fun clubs are suitable for children of all levels. If some children have a background in the target language it does not affect the lesson if other children do not. We use body language and other language support tools such as videos, songs and objects to explain and introduce new vocabulary to the children without speaking any English. Gradually they build up their vocabulary and confidence to be able to speak the target language, all based on and supported by our successful tried and tested teaching methods. Children who already know the language brush up on their existing vocabulary and can speak and listen to the language. TUTORS AND TEACHING STRATEGY Experienced tutors, teaching through interactive fun language games. Taking advantage of the psychology of children to advance their language skills at an early age. All tutors are CRB checked. FUN CLUB The German Fun Club runs for 5 weeks, 1 hour a session. The maximum group size is 6 children for the 6-12 age group and 4 children for the 3-5 age group. We deliberately keep group size small so that the children and teacher build up a good relationship and ensure that every child gets enough attention and has the best chance of learning the language. At the end of each 5 weeks session Babble Language Training will issue a report about each child and topics taught. The Fun Club not only involve the children with the language but also raise awareness of the culture and customs of the country concerned. Festivals celebrated in the German Fun Club
LOCATION Lessons will take place in the Wavell-Cody School Community Campus, Lynchford Road, Farnborough, Hampshire, GU14 6BH. DIRECTIONS Coming into Wavell-Cody School car park, drive straight on until you come to a mini roundabout. Please park in the car bays provided. Walk away from the car park towards the buildings. Walk between the green building on your left and the brown building on your right. You will see a sign on the right hand building saying "TECHNOLOGY". Enter this building and turn left. The Fun Club is on the ground floor next to the Drama Room on your left hand side. If you have any problems in finding it please go to the Gym where you will find an information office. FUN CLUB DATES AND TIMES Saturday mornings-time and dates to be confirmed RESPONSIBILITY Parents are occasionally asked to stay during the lesson, to ensure that adequate supervision is always available to the children, for example if they need to leave the lesson for any reason. FEES For the age group 6-12 years each 1 hour session For the age group 3-5 years each 30 minute session
